Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for leading a small team of 1 - 2+ Tier 2 Cultivation Technicians and 3 - 5+ Tier 1 Cultivation Technicians through the execution of a variety of daily tasks which are vital to the production of the highest quality product.
- Responsible for disseminating information and direction to CT-1 's and CT-2 's, providing training on process and procedures as well as regular supervision, and reporting status updates to the CM .
- Ensure cultivation equipment is on hand, cleaned, maintained, calibrated, and set up prior to the start of each shift, reporting any deficit to the CM.
- Train Cultivation Staff on departmental protocols and procedures at the direction of the CM and with the assistance of Tier 2 technicians, ensuring comprehension and acceptable performance.
- Ensure the timely measurement and recording by CT-1's and CT-2's of daily temperatures, humidity levels, and any other metrics identified by the CM in every relevant space.
- Supervise and assist CT-1's and CT-2's in the execution of daily feeding and plant care schedules as directed by CM.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment on the cultivation and production floor, setting positive examples of adherence to SOP's and departmental directions.
- Assist the CM in developing and maintaining a safe, productive, personal culture amongst the team and within the department.
- Motivate team members and maintain team morale
Administrative Duties:?
- Maintain accurate records of environmental data, nutrient mixes, equipment cleaning and calibration and ensure the thorough completion of any other crop related logs assigned by the CM.
- Promptly report any movement of plants and/or plant I.D.'s to the Inventory department to ensure proper and accurate data logging and to maintain the accuracy of the organization's inventory by location.
- Document and report any failure of cultivation staff to comply with departmental directions, SOP's, or regulations to the CM in a timely manner.
- Maintain an awareness of the production schedule, ensuring that all cultivation operations are performed properly and completed before scheduled deadlines, reporting any deficit directly to the CM.
- File requisitions for standard cultivation supplies ( Nutrients, Cleaning Agents, Pruners, Trellis Netting, Pots, Etc. ) when necessary and after obtaining approval from the CM, ensuring that they are aware of the deficit.
- Assist the CM in performing routine inventories of equipment and supplies on hand.
- Supervisor Relationship: The CS will report directly to the CM. The CS will work alongside the CM to maintain the integrity of all policy, processes and procedures. Whenever the CM is not on premises, the CS in accordance with any other CS's present on site will fulfill the role of Acting Manager on the Floor together, communicating all relevant information directly to the CM in a timely Manner. The CS may direct questions or concerns to either the CM under the assumption that conversations remain open and inclusive. The authority to make changes and decisions is vested in the acting manager at the time, though any changes or alterations in planning or procedure must be relayed to the CM.
- In the absence of both the CM, it is expected that the CS can and will fulfill the role of Acting Manager on the floor in accordance with any other CS present on premises, while being respectful of staff seniority and working with any CS's on site to effectively manage time and resources.
- Attend weekly meetings with the CM, and any other CS's - prepare and present situational updates on production, facilities, supplies, etc.
- Review the cultivation schedule and forecasts for key dates, quantities, strains, etc.
- Advise on the effects of management decisions relating to cultivation, nutrients, workflow and morale.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent - Required
- Associate degree in horticulture, agriculture, biology, chemistry, or related field - Preferred But Not Required
- Work history showing progressive responsibility, willingness to accept additional projects or challenges - Required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in horticulture, botany, or related field - Required

- Minimum 6 months of experience working in the Cultivation Department of the Botanist - NyCanna or another Acreage affiliate - Required
- State of New York Department of Environmental Conservation's Private Pest Applicator Certification - Required
Additional Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic computer & office equipment operations (Google Suite; Sheets, Docs, Drive. Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office Equipment; Copiers, Printers, Telephone Systems).
- Math required for inventory, projections, and measurements. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
- Biology and chemistry related to plant growth and nutrition. Knowledge of plant and animal organisms, their tissues, cells, functions, interdependencies, and interactions with each other and the environment.
- Prior experience with agriculture or plants
- Excellent time-management skills; Ability to effectively plan and prioritize
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; Absolute reliability and honesty
- Ability to focus; Attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as team leader and guide
- Skill in managing physical resources (budgeting, inventories, equipment, materials)
Schedule
- Minimally 40 hour work week on site
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Additional Requirements:
- Must be available to work frequent Evenings and Weekends.
- Must be open to accepting Mandatory Overtime at the direction of the Cultivation Manager.
- Must be available to work Holidays
