How To Work At A Dispensary In Utah

Cannabis Job Market Overview:

Medical cannabis in Utah was legalized in 2018 when voters approved Utah Proposition 2, the Medical Marijuana Initiative.

There are now more than 50,000 licensed cannabis patients in the state, according to a recent legislative analysis.

Cannabis Job Requirements & Application Process:

All plant-touching cannabis workers must be registered with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services. Medical retail stores are called pharmacies and employees are called Medical Cannabis Pharmacy Agents. Cannabis cultivation, processing, and lab employees are called Cannabis Production Establishment Agents.

Requirements:

• Must be employed by a license cannabis facility (you will need to enter work facility information during application process)
• Cannot have any felonies and cannot have a misdemeanor for drug distribution after December 3, 2018
• Must go through Agent Training either through Utah Cannabis Agent Training (UCAT) or through their employer (assuming the training materials are pre-approved by the Utah Department of Health)
• Must submit payment of $150
• Must submit fingerprints

Cannabis Job Background Check Requirements:

All employees of a licensed cannabis facility must submit fingerprints and undergo a criminal history background check.

As stated under the requirements for an Agent Card, you can not have any felonies and you can not have a misdemeanor for drug distribution after December 3, 2018.
