Job Title: Commercial Electrician
Job Summary:
Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install and connect wiring, lighting, electrical outlets, circuit breakers, and other electrical components according to blueprints and specifications.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to ensure functionality and safety, including inspecting electrical components, identifying faults, and replacing defective parts.
- Repair: Diagnose and repair electrical problems such as short circuits, malfunctioning systems, and faulty wiring to restore functionality and prevent disruptions.
- Testing and Inspection: Conduct tests and inspections of electrical systems and components using testing devices and equipment to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot electrical problems by systematically identifying issues, analyzing symptoms, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following proper procedures for handling electrical equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation, maintenance, and repair activities, as well as any relevant inspections and testing results.
- Customer Service: Interact with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements, provide updates on project progress, and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as plumbers, carpenters, and HVAC technicians, to coordinate work activities and ensure smooth project execution.
- Continuing Education: Stay updated on advancements in electrical technology, codes, and regulations through ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a vocational or technical training program in electrical systems or a related field is preferred.
- Licensing: Valid electrician's license or certification issued by relevant regulatory authorities. Additional certifications, such as OSHA safety certification, are advantageous.
- Experience: Proven experience as a commercial electrician, with a strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, components, and wiring methods. Experience in industrial settings is a plus.
- Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and safety awareness. Good communication and customer service skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift heavy objects. Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime, as required by project deadlines and client needs.
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites as necessary.
