IN A NUTSHELL...
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Ability to navigate and influence leaders in a complex matrixed organization and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to the labor union.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with union representatives.
- Lead and participate in union negotiations, contract renewals, and dispute resolution.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, including the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers in resolving workplace issues and conflicts.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to lead and facilitate change.
- Conduct investigations as necessary and recommend appropriate actions.
- Develop and implement employee relations programs and initiatives to improve employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and local labor laws and ensure company policies and practices are in compliance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the HR team to facilitate the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition for new employees.
- Assist in the performance appraisal process and provide guidance on performance improvement plans.
- Collect and analyze HR data to identify trends and provide insights to improve HR processes and practices.
- Prepare regular reports on HR metrics for management.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree in HR or Labor Relations is a plus.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification (Preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HR, with a focus on union relations and labor negotiations.
- Experience supporting a union environment is strongly preferred.
- Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations.
- Strong understanding of labor laws and regulations, including the NLRA.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Age 21 or over (Industry Requirement)
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Industry Requirement)
- Valid Government-Issued Photo ID (Industry Requirement)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time for 8 hours a day.
- Will be required to move around the facility that can include environments of heat and humidity.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Frequently communicates with other employees/customers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
