Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

This role will have direct management and oversight of inventory and costing systems for Florida, Massachusetts and Texas and will play a key role in the growth of the company by analyzing business financial performance, generating monthly and ad hoc reporting, maintaining pro forma models used for company operations, pricing, M&A activities, and other ad hoc activities. You will report to the Director, Corporate Accounting but will work closely with the Director, FP&A and other leadership positions across the company.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all aspects of accounting related to inventory and production processes for cultivation, extraction, processing and manufacturing
  • Develop and maintain effective and efficient month-end close procedures related to the inventory and cost accounting processes

  • Ensure cultivation and manufacturing policy and procedures are in accordance with US GAAP and internal control requirements
  • Provide analysis of new product launches, department costing, and cost allocations as required
  • Develop and maintain a BOM review process, update significant costing changes related to raw materials
  • Support Director, FP&A on development of benchmarks for the measurement of company financial performance goals, scorecards for cultivation and processing performance, and forecasts
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget, rolling budget, and forecasts
  • Ability to combine multiple data sources to build custom analyses and proactively track product trends
  • Work closely with other departments to develop and improve costing infrastructure
  • Spearhead development and transition to standard costing model
  • Ensure the accuracy of the organization's financial results and reports
  • Account for any budget variances and report significant discrepancies to management
  • Drive cycle counting, periodic physical inventory internal audits
  • Oversee year-end inventory counts performed by external auditors
  • Work directly with external auditors to provide necessary costing information in support of annual audits
  • Assist in analysis of capital investments, contract negotiations, and pricing decisions where necessary
  • Assist monthly financial analysis and reporting of results, including variance analysis vs budget/forecast and prior year. Ensure timely completion of analysis and reporting on the Company's financial results
  • Contribute to the organization's annual budgeting process, as well as the interim forecasting process
  • Produce financial reports regarding trends, variances, and profitability and performance measurement
  • Manage the preparation of financial materials for executive leadership team
  • Key understanding of Finances' role in supporting the business and ability to work with all levels within the organization
  • Ensure timely completion of analysis and reporting on the Company's financial results for Board and other internal and external stakeholders.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation
  • At least 5-10 years of hands-on operational accounting experience. Controller or equivalent experience highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Experienced in a dynamic role with a high level of written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytically and communicatively
  • Focuses simultaneously on short- and long-term goals and ability to identify problems quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Strong financial modeling and business analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization.
  • Ability to identify the key drivers and factors to uncover risks and opportunities
  • Strong Excel skills required
